Mathilde attends all the major international sales: yearling sales, two year old breeze up sales, weanling and broodmare sales, horses in training sales and mixed sales, in England, Ireland, France, USA, Australia and New Zealand, or anywhere she is asked to go!
Armed with 35 years of experience, she specialises in pre-purchase examinations, or vettings, for racing, pin-hooking or breeding. A pre-purchase examination for racing or pin-hooking at the sales consists in a thorough clinical evaluation over 2 stages, an endoscopic examination of the larynx and a radiographic examination of all 4 limbs. An ultrasonographic examination of the tendons and ligaments is often necessary for horses of racing age, and can be useful to check the suspensory branches of yearlings or weanlings.
Pre-purchase examinations for breeding can include x-rays of the feet or specific areas and endoscopy of the larynx.
Occasionally, a second opinion from a specialist consultant is needed, or further specialised diagnostic techniques.
Post sale examinations include wind examinations, pregnancy diagnosis, laboratory tests and examinations prior to export.
