Mathilde grew up in France in the Loire Valley near Blois. After many placements with eminent equine veterinary surgeons in Chantilly, California and the United Kingdom, she qualified in 1991 from the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Nantes and obtained a Doctorate in 1994. After 3 years in mixed/equine practice in France, Mathilde joined Greenwood Ellis & Partners in Newmarket in 1994 and became a partner in 2005, moving to Newmarket Equine Hospital in 2008. In August 2011, she set up her own practice, based in Newmarket.
Mathilde quickly specialised in racehorse medicine and lameness and soon established herself as a leading racing vet, looking after prestigious racing yards and developing a close and hugely successful association with Sir Michael Stoute for over 15 years. She gained further experience in the winter of 1998/1999 by spending 6 months between equine practices on the racetracks of Southern California and in Kentucky. She now divides her time between the Northern Hemisphere Flat racing season and all the major sales in Europe, USA and Down Under.
Mathilde has not forgotten her roots and has a passion for food and wine, French of course! She has a great interest in architecture, interior design, gardening and art in all its form, especially music. She plays the piano and enjoys going to concerts or the opera. She is also a keen photographer. She enjoys the seaside and swimming and of course horse-riding, especially in beautiful surrounding countryside. Having devoted her life to animals, she loves nature and wildlife, and cares deeply about animal welfare, environmental issues and preservation of the natural world. Always keen to travel and discover new cultures and landscapes, Mathilde is basically passionate about life!
